After looking through some pictures of abandoned game dev projects, I realized I should add them to my blog as a mini portfolio. The following pictures are from various projects I have worked on over the last two years. They are ordered from oldest to newest. Every 3D model was created by me, except for some of the foliage and rocks. I took those from the MegaScans library.
Horror Game – Mirror Image
The concept for this game was simple. Make a horror game where the main enemy can only be seen when looking through a mirror. I created two basic level for this game and my friend Brandon did most of the programming. The AI was very basic, but the mirror concept worked. A indie game with the exact same concept was released recently. I was a little sad to see someone else come up with the same concept, but I doubt I would have revisited the project.
The player would enter an underground bunker via an elevator. This version had very reflective materials.
Here is the same level with some tweaked textures. The power lines used a custom blueprint with splines. This enabled us to quickly place lots of power lines that would also curve around corners.
Here is the concept for the second level. It would have a handful of scripted event where the monster would walk certain paths behind the player, building a sense of unease.
The pocket watch would be a “tier 1” mirror. See its tiny reflective surface?
Homebound
I won’t explain the whole game-play loop of Homebound, but the general concept was farming with a time limit.
Above is a smaller concept level followed by a more complete level. There was a small town and mine section that were only partly finished.
There were different tiers of farming equipment.
Magic Game
I did some 3D models for a magic game that my friend Brandon was working on. It was a multiplayer spell casting game.
Random VFX video
This was a cool test render I did. I placed a basic 3D object with realistic reflections in my backyard.
Untitled Horror Game
You can follow the development of this game in previous blog posts. I just wanted to include it here for completeness.
